1 AOS's Avro Anson (#AX347) aircraft, engaged in a routine navigation flight, crashed near Garden Hill, Ontario, taking the lives of the four members of the Anson's aircrew.

He was employed as a civilian training instructor under the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan, at Dominion Skyways (Training) Limited, at the time of his death.
Warrant Officer Class II Harvey Chambers Freeman is commemorated on Page 161 of Canada's Second World War Book of Remembrance.
He is also commemorated by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
